Question about The End Of Evangelion

When Shinji is alone in the emergency room with Asuka after he's done calling for help from her, there is a moment were the screen pans all around the room and you hear Shinji's breath become quite rough but still low, then it shows his hand with some sort of fluid on it, personally I think that he was masturbating while Asuka was passed out, and some of the dialouge in the movie would only add substance to prove my point, but one of my friends thinks that the stuff in Shinji's hands was either tears or sweat.

Shinji is an unsympathetic character in the English dub, yes.  He's whiny and sarcastic, and this is part of the reason the English dub sucks.  In the subtitled version, it is easier to see that he is a complex character.  He is sometimes brave and noble, and sometimes not; toward the end of the series he's rather badly fucked up, it's true.  This is because he's not a two-dimensional cardboard cutout like Koji Kabuto.

English dub Shinji makes me want to strangle him.  I empathize with subbed Shinji.

I think that is a bit a parody of the old testament, You know, Adam and Eve are in the begining of the "old evangelion" like shinji and asuka are in the end of the new evangelion. They are the end of evangelion.
