Regarding the better ways to translate Momoiro Clinic.

repost:

?: What is the point of translating something?

!: To convey as much as possible of the original meaning of the concepts in the original creation to its intended target audience.

?: What's the target audience for this manga?

!:
- People who like sexually oriented comics
- speak English
- most likely reside in USA followed by Europe. (since this is an american site, though with an international readership)

- Language-wise:
 # The majority of the readers are likely to not understand japanese, but have a small vocabulary of a few japanese words and concepts.
 # Second largest group would be people who do not understand japanese at all
 # Third largest group being people who can read japanese fairly well
 # Fourth being people who speak japanese fluently.

When you translate something, you often have to suffer the dilemma whether or not to translate it in a way that's more literal to the concept the creator used, or to use an equivalent concept that's more local and will be more widely understood.

a friend of mine said the following:

momo means both "peach" and "thigh", so "momoiro" can mean "peach color" or "thigh color" ... however, momoiro usually means "pink". "pinku" would refer to genitals too directly. There's a culture difference here. American pron is advertised something like "cum-hungry bitch fucked in her pink holes", while japanese is all about subtle allusion: "the peach-colored cherry blossom loses its leaves"
i'm making the difference sound a little too extreme...

The pun of the title isn't possible to keep in its original form, since thigh and peach do not have a bond in English like what it does in Japanese.
So, if one actually want to convey the pun, one would need to find something that's the equivalent of that, and preferably still be as related to the original title as possible.

is unfortunately very right. Had this been translated by a US company, it would have been translated to "Horny Clinic".

I'm in favour of Pink Clinic or as suggested by http://img.4chan.org/t/res/71272.html#72320 :
Pink Peach Clinic.

Pink Peach Clinic has strong associations to the original title, as well as hinting sexually on a level of lewdness similar to the original if we translate the level culturally.
