Black anime characters

Name: Anonymous 2005-09-21 16:50

I've personally never seen a black anime character.  Do they exist?

I would much rather be contacted on myspace but my email is fine as well.

Bleach has one, the blind guy whose name escapes me atm

There are various interracial characters in the various anime that do not take place in Japan. With that said, if the anime takes place in Japan yet the characters look white, they are still Japanese, unless otherwise stated in the anime. Afro Samurai is not an exception. Bleach takes place in Japan and Soul Society is a Japanese cultured region. (Note: dark japanese exist!)

The only real black guy I know is the boxer from the Street Fighter series.

With that said, Amerikkka should start creating anime so this inaccurate nippon take on the world/brainwash is stopped.

Boondocks, all black people.

In Blood The Last Vampire there are a few black American soldiers.
I remember a scene in it where a woman sees a fat nigger and screams because she thinks it's monster.

Name: Anonymous 2008-06-03 5:32

>>40 There are plenty of characters with afros who obviously aren't black. For example, Nabeshin in Excel Saga is based on the series' director (who has afro in real life).

Name: Anonymous 2008-06-03 11:50

Mr. PooPoo from DBZ.

Name: org 2008-06-03 16:38

this isn't from the anime, i take it...

but the anime did have that rastafarian mushroom dealer and the awesome lady-cop with the bazooka in her trunk.

Name: Anonymous 2008-06-04 17:01

Wolf Göring in Blassreiter is black. And that doctor bitch could pass as half-black or something.

Yes I'm talking that anime The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. It fucking sucks. Now it's pretty popular among the anime circles, and yet this poor excuse for an animated feature is the worst thing ever produced by a human being if you except Plan 9 from Outer Space, and I'm being generous.

First you gotta admit you hated the first episode. It made no sense, sucked as shit, wasn't funny, edgy or new. Or original. Animation sucked dead dogs' balls. Characters sucked dead dogs' balls. Voice actiong sucked dead dogs' balls. But you managed to make it through the whole pile of steaming poo just to see the ED. BEcause that's what this anime is about. It's about the ED. Those 1 minute and a half. There's nothing else to it. You went like "OMG ANIMATION LIEK" you freaking retards and now everyone likes it. Yet it's shit. It's complete shit with no redeeming qualities. There's fucking nothing to it. Just the dance at the end. It's a dancing anime. A fucking retarded danxcing anime with no story and nothing and no characters it sucks. You shouldn't like it you morons seriously. Just download the ED and loop it on your WMP you cockass faggot asses. DAMN I wish all those threads about HARUHI OMG YEAH would go one and everyone in them die FUCK YOU for polluting my forums HARUHI FUCK YOU.

Name: Anonymous 2008-06-15 20:27

HARUHI OMG YEAH I LOVE IT!

Name: Anonymous 2008-06-15 23:18

Name: Anonymous 2008-06-17 11:46

yoruichi from bleach is black but in japanese anime they make the hair purple! And captain Tousen .

Name: Anonymous 2008-06-17 18:43

>>564
Wasn't that also the guy who speaks German all the time?

Name: DivineWyrm 2008-06-18 13:43

in Bleach, Yourouichi and Captain Tousen are black
In Black Lagoon, Dutch the leader is black
and there are lots of black characters in other anime, you'v just not watched that much.

#579, your reasons are crap, unvalid and completely unjustifying, you are just blindly insulting a GREAT anime. I personally dont care about the ratings of ANYTHING.
The first episode made PERFECT sense otherwise they wouldnt have aired it, YOU just didnt get it and fail to accept that.
The character profiles were very original and creative and reflected on real life, all you do is call it 'dead dogs' balls', tsk. You probably watched the English dubb of the voice acting which sucks and i hate english dubbs. All you do is call it shit WITH NO FUCKING GOOD REASONS. I hope someone drops an A-Bomb over your head and shuts you up. Good Day.

#579/#584. Too true. Saying somethings shit off the block with no support is shit in itself.
For me its not the story, which i'll grant goes a long way into nowhereness its the characters and feelings the show creates. whilst the plot goes nowhere your whisked into the world so well.

As for the ED, who even cares. its really is average at best. Perhaps funny if you like the show but i cant see how its as great as people crack it up to be.

and as for the adjective "dead dogs balls", has to be the worst ive heard and its not helped that you seem to love it enough to mention it again and again.

There are a ton in Darker than Black.
I'm not even joking.

Name: Dr Edward Roivas 2008-06-19 3:10

I don't know what's worse.  Anime where the white characters have tiny eyes, or whites and orientals look exactly the same, but the characters know the difference.

Name: DivineWyrm 2008-06-19 19:00

yeah i forgot, there ARE a lot in Darker Than Black lol

Name: Ultenth 2008-06-20 4:36

Generally speaking artists write what they know.  There are VERY few people of African heritage in Japan, therefore there are very few people of African heritage in anime.  Pretty simple don't you think?  Why would they, living in Japan, create art in order to please people living in OTHER COUNTRIES to make them happy?

And even if they did, if anything they should add more Hispanics, where are almost completely non-existance in anime, and yet are a very large portion of America, which is where it seems most of you think JAPANESE artists should create their art in mind for.

How many Native Americans show up in anime?  Or Pacific Islanders? Or East Indains?  Or Arabs? Or even people from Europe outside of France, Britan and Germany? Step outside of your selfish little world and realize that there are plenty of races out there that are getting a much shorter end of the stick in many ways than people of African decent, and stop trying to make everything about your race.

If it's such a big deal to you, why don't you move to Japan, get a couple hundred thousand other people of African decent to move with you, and start pumping out anime, since then I would have no problem with it.  But if you're here in America, or anywhere else, and telling them how to create their art, which is OF COURSE going to be based upon the world around them, then you're just a blithering idiot.

i totally agree with you, but what you said about native americans, pacific islanders and french people and others not showing up in anime is wrong, i don think you've seen much diffrent types of anime...there are a lot of native americans in Black Lagoon, theres about 5 anime series[names i forgot] which are just about the french community, hence full of europians, and i think Sonabozu has quite a lot arabics in it.
German? are u kidding? havent u seen all those nazi based anime?

Name: Anonymous 2008-06-20 19:15

The main character in Turna A Gundam is black.

you haven't understood what he said. He said that there are only few anime with characters from Europe that are NOT from Germany, Britain or France. And there are no native Americans (I think he refers to Apaches, Cherokee etc) in Black Lagoon, although there are in other anime.
Also, about every 10th series or so has some references to German culture (think of NGE, Rozen Maiden, Elfen Lied, WeissKreuz, Monster, Blassreiter...), not just those Nazi-based ones.

Name: Anonymous 2008-06-21 20:33

what about bleach? theres a black guy there, a mexican guy, and yoruichi looks maybe filipina or pacific islander

Name: Ultenth 2008-06-22 3:00

Please, stop bumping this retarded thread (yeah, yeah, I know I just did too).  Read some of the posts here and you'd realize that it's really a non-issue, and blacks are very well represented in anime given their population % in Japan where the shows are made.  I mean, it's not like the USA there, only 1.6% of the countries legal residents are foreigners.  Most anime show's have character counts from 10-40 at the most, so it's very realistic to think that most of them wouldn't have very many people of ANY non-Japanese race.

Name: Anonymous 2008-06-28 13:38

Afro Samurai . The main character is black.

Name: angryblackguy 2008-07-01 1:09

there are no man black chracters in anime and besides the black people in anime usally are big or fat 0r ugly as hell, they have big lips and dreads that is is some BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Name: reasonable black guy 2008-07-13 11:23

kaolla from love hina is from some island in the Pacific...I forgot the name of it, but yea she isn't black.

and i don't think villetta from code geass is black...she is either mixed or native american (seeing that britannia is north and south america, brittania would have lots of native americans) but since her hair is grey who the hell knows.

but yeah not every brown skin character is black guys, but there are black characters like dutch, tousen, that secretary from fma...you have to look at the face structure as well as skin color.
