Calling Mr. Popo black is offensive to black people (which I am), and now I'll tell you why.
You know in America, the "blackface" days, where black people painted their faces black with red lipstick and danced around on stage? Just so all you non-black people know, that was NOT a good time in American history for black people, it was degrading, it was shameful, it was black people forcing themselves to make a mockery of...themselves! Because they had no other way to get what the white people had, to be entertainers, to have money.
Mr. Popo looks like a blackfaced entertainer. Japanese people don't know black people, they only know what's on TV about them, and therefore a whole bunch of rude and disrespectful stereotypes are displayed in cartoons such as DBZ.
you are an ahole for evein saying mr popo. Anyway the fact that people have to think thatd hard is the major problem. And you say their are no whites. Even when an anime has no whites the characters in it just seem to be white anyway. When they are in it they are drawn crudely usually. They are rarely main characters. NO WE ARE NOT TALKING BOONDOCKS!!!!!
They are looked at as morons usually or scared of everything. Always some humor behind them or something. Only black cartoon character
NOT TALKING BOONDOCKS
who i respected was virgil from stack shock.
for go dsake sin dbz when they evolved... or got powerful enough they got gold (blonde) hair with blue eyes... they became super white people in my eyes.
Anyway the show Bleach can have black singers in it but no black characters. samurai champloo can pull their whole shows feel from black culture but have no black characters.
oh so they were in japan.
Today tons of blacks are in japan. so that stops the excuse from bleach
and in samurai champloo blacks were rare but you coudlnt walk for more than 2 days and not see atleast one. because ricans, blacks, arabians, irish people, austrians, everything is somewhere else for some reason. You cant enter a country and say oh what the hellw here did you come from.. wow.. *pokes* i seen someone like you in a magazine. poppycock
and if you say martial arts is a japanese thing or something liek that then why did bruce lee personally sometimes spar and train art black dojos.. well specifically one.
Gave much respect to one man in particular. The guy who says, "man you come straigh totu of a comic book" in the movie "enter the dragon". i think it wa that movie.
oh well im bored of the rant

In the early chapters of gantz (the dinosaur mission) there was a group of black guys there. suffice to say they didn't last too long
Caska is black, so is that one chick in FMA. and that other chick from eureka 7.
and the first two episodes of darker than black has a black guy.
so yes they exist.
but yeah, Japanese are ultra racists when it comes down to it.

Well, in most anime there is not really any Black (African) characters. Most Dark skin characters are from south Asia, a Pacific Island, or somewhere from Latin America. An sometimes from space.

"The liberals have encouraged the development of "Black studies" programs in the schools and then have smiled patronizingly when Blacks have gone off on wild and nutty "Black history" tangents: for example, their claim that the ancient Egyptians and Carthaginians were Blacks. They even claim that the Greek queen of Egypt, Cleopatra, was Black.
In fact, the latest craze among "Black history" enthusiasts is a curriculum called the "African-American Baseline Essays."
Courses based on this curriculum teach students in our public schools that not only were the ancient Egyptians Negroes, but that they were great scientists and inventors, who developed quantum mechanics and the theory of evolution and built airplanes, which they used to fly around the pyramids for business and pleasure . . . until, of course, the evil Europeans appeared on the scene and enslaved them and stole their inventions.
They're actually teaching such things to children in the public schools in Milwaukee and a number of other cities, and it's beginning to make the liberals a little uncomfortable. To the liberals, Blacks are above reproach. So how to tell them that they're on a self-destructive course with Ebonics and their Black Egyptian aeronauts?"
To be honest, many animes don't actually have "japanese" characters...since they have pink and blonde hair, with green and blues eyes...and male leads are (almost always) over 6 feet....

Japanese people are short, have squinted eyes, wear glasses, have black hair and eyes. Their anime is not accurately depicting them.
Have you been to Japan? Sure there's a very small minority that are into some weird fashion shit but the majority look like what I described.

Anime is mostly fiction. I you want to believe that everyone in Japan is uber hot and beautiful(as seens in anime), and that 3 in 10 Japanese girls have magic powers, then that's your problem.

Both those Characters in Bleach are black, and I would like to add that they have great roles for a black character too. There are blacks in anime though, remember the first Macross?
I dont think Mr.Popo is actually black, but in black face lololol
nigra lol omg hahaha.
The big lips and black skin all originated from lil black sambo. The original story was about a boy in india lol but when the book hit america they completely changed it and rewrote it to be a black boy in black face hahaha. its ridiculous because of ignorance. Those books hit asia and they were hits, the black face is still popular in Japan haha. But when you look at Japanese, they really do like black culture a lot. Infact when record companies sell records in Japan and the artist is black, they have to make sure that the black person is displayed on the cover, black artists sell the most of foreign music all togethor. I swear to god, I almost fucked these japanese exchange bitches! they were like "Chocolate man!" lol naw that came from Code Monkeys lol but its still the shit hahaha.
