It was alright. I will be good. It will get the anime out to people who havn't seen it. I know that the sub people will have the voices, they always do thats why they are sub people.
I perfer dubbed but i don't mind having to read subtitles. Dubbed can be good, look at Read or Die.
I also can't get into Naruto's voice (Everyone else's is fine so far) and the way they pronounce Naruto half the time. Especially the toonami robot.
nuh-ROO-toe? ... Sorry, you don't pronounce it like that.

It's actually a big step forward after the last high-profile shonen debut(debacle?), One Piece. And there'll be uncut DVDs. Now if they could just leave the OP/EDs alone...

well yeah, but do you really think the fans will ever stop complaining when it comes to things like this? they could make a naruto channel that did nothing but air the show 24/7 subtitled days before it shows in japan, but the fans would STILL find something to get mad about

You cant seriously expect 4kids to go that BIG of a step forward with the Op/Eds.
ALthough mind you, Naruto itself has many Jap references. So 4kids would be fighting a losing battle if they tried to americanize it like putting a US-style opening.

What in tarnation are you on about? 4kids has nothing to do with Naruto. It's certainly reasonable to hope Cartoon Network takes that step forward given their history of unaltered OP/EDs on Adult Swim.

Especially since their "History of unaltered OP/EDs on Adult Swim" are unaltered OP/EDs of anime they didn't translate.
Heh... I didn't watch it. I wanted to but... manga to anime to amrican translations always make the lead kid sound like Ash Ketchum. I saw a preview and was ennui of the whole situation so... feh, I might watch it next weekend.

I saw the first episode thought they did a decent job. left the fun cheesey music in the episodes and I think Naruto's voice is fine it is fitting of his character who is kind of an annoying brat

I'm totally anti-dub, but that's because the dub of the Tenchi Muyo OAV (which, for your information, sucked beyond episode 5 or so) was so horrible it permanently scarred me.
I dunno, I just want stuff to be in the language they were meant to be. There's always something lost in the translation and at least fansubbers go through some effort of explaining cultural things in their works.

I think Iruka said Gee-Nine (Genin) on the second ep, which confuses me since they say jounin and chuunin correctly. Naruto's voice sucks, most of the others are alright, and each character says "Naruto" in like 6 different ways.

English dubbed anime needs to die. Fansubs live!
Besides, I always liked the manga for Naruto better anyway.

I think they did a pretty good job casting Naruto himself, has that same type of whinny ass voice that you hear in the japanese version >___> lol
i don't get how people don't complain about annoying voices in the japanese version of stuff, and then complain when the same annoying-voice character is dubbed with an annoying voice in english.
were they just not listening?

's why I avoid subs if I can help it. Japanese females are glassbreakers. Dub has to be H-anime quality before I try the sub.

The Japanese annoying cutesy voice is much less annoying than the American voice, especially when it's an ADV dub and they can only find old ugly heavy smokers in crappy Texas bars.
please direct me at the gore and homosex in naruto
I must have missed it when I marathoned the whole fucking series...

I'm pretty sure he's refering to the nosebleed and the hand stabbing(>__> not gore). It is funny how they censor it though. They replaced the kunai in the hand stabbing scene with a lunchbox featuring doraemon. As for homosexuality...naruto makes you gay...what can I say?

i didnt see it but i got the chance to hear some of the dub audio and it still sounds as bad as the japanese audio so no real loss i think

are you retarded, the lunchbox shit was a photoshop
gore- they removed the dripping blood for the most part, though they kept blood stains. They also modified the hand-stabbing scene to show only the kunai, not actual stabbing and splattering blood.
homosexuality- in.. episode 3, I think it is, Naruto and Sasuke kiss on accident. It's extremely amusing, but they cut it out in the dub. The funniest thing I've noticed? they left the sound effects in, they just didn't show the actual kiss. A friend pointed out that it sounds a little more consensual that way until you see them gagging.

Personally I was thrilled that Naruto was coming to the US. and I was also thrilled just because they didn't mutilate it like One Piece (oh God, Sanji's VOICE O_O).
For the most part I like the choice for voice actors. It took awhile to get used to it, but you get desensitized to it well enough by episode 6 or so.
Now, if they get good voices for Lee and Neji it'll be a complete win. Really, they're the only ones I care about.
I was pretty disappointed by the cut of Naruto stabbing his hand. It was a pivotal point of the episode, and series for that matter. But whatever.
