I just discovered manga, Gantz to be exact. It's the first Japanese art -anything- I've ever found to really humanize paper. Is there another manga that has characters/character interaction like it or deals with real humans like it? I've checked out Monster and Berserk, but Berserk is dark age (albeit AWESOME) and Monster bored the fuck out of me (along with that anime about some 12 year old getting hit by a bus- that pissed me off.)

Death note.
Oku Hiroyas art in gantz is good but it feels like he's restricting himself to drawing a certain type of characteristic traits when introducing new characters. While Takeshi Obatas varied style puts me in a seat where I rally believe what I see, his amazing drawings blow so much life into the manga.

what the fuck? i just read this and was about to respond. i was going to say what a retard you were for thinking gantz has humanity and realism when it's just an action manga.
i just realized that I WROTE THIS POST A YEAR AGO. WHAT THE FUCK?
but thanks for the bump. I've heard of death note and i may have looked through the first issue. thanks, i'll see to it again.
