A.I. Love You

Does anyone like this manga other than me?

Ken Akamatsu did really very well, I think.  Saati is pretty fucking awesome, I'd love a program like that.  In fact, a freind of mine and me were working on Saati, trying to re-create her.  God damn, if we didn't lose interest in the project it may have gotten somewhere.  Just takes forever and is tedious as hell.

Anyway, I really like A.I. Love You.  What are your opinions on it?

So... does it suck like all of Ken Akamatsu's other manga?

Fucking loved it dood.

No, it was shite. Even if the story is utter shit, you can usually rely on an Akamatsu series to at least look pretty. AI Love You doesn't even manage that, since it seems to predate the moment when he learned to draw.

>In fact, a freind of mine and me were working on Saati, trying to re-create her.

please elaborate

the only reason it doesnt look as good as some of his newer works is because its simply older then the rest. it was one of his first creations but never produced so his style changed over time and got nicer and cleaner like in negima or love hina. but for hardcore akamatsu fans its still a great manga. i enjoyed it.

aging for some information and updates.

At first my friend and I (Yukio) were planning to make a PC program written in C++ that imitates Saati.  Voice recognition was hard and we wanted to do it in Japanese since we figured there'd be a larger audience for the project and we both are good at Japanese (though I am a native English speaker).  In the end, we wanted a much better and more elaborate version of NUDE (natural ultimate digital experiment, for the xbox).

Yukio began not having time for the project, and I myself didn't have the time anymore.  We didn't get very far passed planning, just a very simple GUI and test model for Saati as well as a few test voice commands that worked surprisingly well.

Now, i'm working on a Saati bot for IRC that will be able to learn, speak, and act as a human, as well as having a database of knowledge, carry out commands, and do various other things.  Making a full fledge program was a bit too hard, especially as just a side project by myself.  If anyone is interested in helping me create a true program, let me know and I will paste contact information so that we can work together.  I don't want to work on it for hours and hours everyday of my life since I just don't have to time to do that, but getting it done would be very cool.  Knowing Japanese doesn't matter, we can do the program in English as well.  We'd have to start over anyway since I don't have any of the old files, my harddrive failed quite sometime ago, and the CDs that it was backed up on are long gone.  Knowledge of C++ is required, however.

Oh, and someone good at modeling/drawing anime-style characters would be good.  I suck at it.

"Saati" sounds much nicer than just another name for a stupid computer program, don't you think?

learn, speak, and act as a human, as well as having a database of knowledge

Please do, mate, please do. You'll have a Nobel Prize waiting for you if you succeed.

Do you have any idea what you're talking about?

I like Akamatsu's work, but having as much computer training/experience as I do, it was just too silly a premise for me to get over. :/

I hope you've been reading up on artificial intelligence and machine learning. It's a very hard area to work in.

no, no, not like an android.
I see IRC bots around us already that can learn.  Like "netking" on rizon or "Paroxysm" on delinked.  It's very possible, just very time consuming.  You just need to spend months of programming telling it what to say in different scenarios.

project dropped.  no time.
