mahou sensei nejima first episode is out. the manga is cool, the anime can't be bad. it's harry poter version japanese echi.

I haven't heard good things from the manga fans who've watched the first episode, but not having read it myself I thought it was a decent start, certainly enough to keep me watching.
I was just surprised, there seemed to be quite a bit of hype behind this yet it looks like it got a pretty low animation budget. The opening especially was extremely bad, given that most shows throw a chunk of time and money at those to make them look extra nice compared to the regular animation.

As a fan of the Negima manga I was pretty disappointed with this, especially because of the poor animation quality and character designs, and to a lesser extent some of the voices (I especially didn't like Asuna's voice, but perhaps it will grow on me as the series progresses). The fanservice was also toned down, but that really didn't bother me too much.
That said, I did kind of enjoy the first ep and at this early point it looks like this might be a better manga to anime conversion than Love Hina was (which they did an abysmal job with).
And yeah, the opening is pathetic. I'm holding out hope that it's just a placeholder OP and the real one will be ready in a couple more episodes.

I agree that some of the voices didn't really match up with what I had always pictured, especially Yue. The tone was right, but the voice just wasn't quite there.
so yeah. the first ep wasnt that good, but we didnt expect all the echi stuff to be ported in did we?
and the character are much more elaborated, you learn stuff about them in the first ep that you learn much later in the manga. of what i remember at least.
im going to give it a chance because of all the anime i loved there isnt one that the first episode was realy interesting or have a description that would make me wana see it. seriously.
