Mine is Azumanga Daioh.. It differ so much from series like onegai twins and rizelmine, because it don't always make joke about sex.. You get pretty sick of that..

J.C. Staff is just the animation company. Really, the character designer is the one that determines the art style, but even he doesn't have anything to do with the jokes or plot or anything... unless it's based on a manga made by one person or something, like Azumanga. Anyway, the relationship between Azumanga and Excel/Puni is basically that there isn't one.
Anyway, my vote goes to Sakigake!! Cromatie High. The eps are short length (15-20mins), and they just have random insane crap happening the whole time. Azumanga's just too slow-paced for me.
Azumanga all the way. Excel Saga was also good most of the time, but some of the jokes just irritated me (the coach comes to mind).
I just love the crabby way Osaka moves around when she tries to set up the firecracker behind Chiyo.

Do you guys read much manga ? There is a Manga called Yotsubato which is written by the same person that created Azumanga Dioh. Its really cool :D
Also anothr good one is "Today in Class 5-2" which is a school based manga, like Azumanga Dioh. However it has Male and Female main characters. Personally i think this si about twice as good as Azumanga (manga) check them out :D

Now, Yotsubato is the shit. Hopefully they'll pull off the anime transition nicely. Yakitate is also really funny, but the anime just feels so low-budget. That, and I've already heard all the jokes. ;)

yes, Azumanga and Excel Saga are very different from a writing point of view, but you havta admit that there are definate similarities in the drawing style employed in both.
Back on topic, one show that was surprisingly funny, at least after seeing Card Captors, was CCS.

That's very hard to judge. I liked Azumanga Daioh, which had a lot of cute in addition to funny, Puni Puni Poemy which had a lot of WTF CRAZY in addition to funny, Ninin ga Shinobuden which had a lot of Shinobu but not enough episodes, and Galaxy Angel which has a lot of episodes but not enough people fansubbing it.
Di Gi Charat is another of my favourite series, which I don't expect will become as popular here as in Japan, which is probably a good thing because otherwise I might be tempted to sell my anime cel from the movie.

I liked Di Gi Charat the first time I saw it. I watched episodes 1 through 8. Later I saw more of it and realized that it's crap, and made for little girls. I mean it's funny when the bish guy appears and there's the flowers and sparkles around him, but I thought it was doing that for parody. Now that I know it was typical bish it's not the same.
All in all the first 17 episodes are worth watching once, but skip anything longer than four minutes (OVAs, etc)

Excel Saga... well, it's overdoing it, making fun of every anime imaginable. Azumanga Daioh is good in terms of cleaner humor. Well, everything I like and find funny are already listed... anyone put "Sexy Commando Gaiden: Sugoiyo Masaru-san" yet..? It's a classic, yet not so many people seem to know it... The most unusual people come asking about that anime to me though.

Azumanga hit me very strongly when I saw it, If I think of a few scenes that happened in azu they get me laughing just from the memory... lets see, Osaka going to wake up sensei, with a butcher knife, Wondering what Osaka would have done if sensei was still asleep, Hmm, Chiyo after the car ride, Osaka losing her shoe after kicking it off, the girls in the locker room comparing breast sizes by nationality.
Ranma, even considering how old it is still holdds a spot in my heart so long after it came out.
Love Hina was great humor stuff too
