Just saw Metropolis and Memories on DVD, quite good.
I had actually seen Memories years ago in 1995 on VHS, didn't understand a word of it and loved it. It was nice seeing it subbed in English, but at least with Magnetic Rose you can derive the story almost entirely from the visuals. These kinds of 'anthology' films are nice, people that liked this will almost certainly enjoy Robot Carnival and Neo-Tokyo, though I can't think of many more like it.
In particular I liked the darker and more thought-provoking atmosphere of Magnetic Rose, is there anything else like this? The other two segments (Stink Bomb and Cannon Fodder) are perfectly good in their own right but are really overshadowed by the first one.
Metropolis is an example of superb execution of a completely plain and overused plot. The computer effects blends in seamlessly with the traditional animation, and is used to show the world of Metropolis in amazing detail, probably something that would have been difficult to draw out by hand. Along with the fitting music and interesting array of characters, it's a pretty solid flick despite the inane plot - given the background for when the film's concept was created, it probably would have been groundbreaking at the time.
The characters do look a little cartoony (to fit with Osamu Tezuka's style, but it makes it hard to take the villans seriously) however everything else is done to such perfection that you can overlook these minor flaws.
SPOILER ALERT:
I didn't get the ending though. Did Kenichi open up a shop to spend the rest of his days amongst the robots of Metropolis, but without Tima who is assumably dead? The shop sign mentions '& Tima' so is she still alive?
