So, any fans of this manga here at 4chan? I'm really enjoying it so far, although I kind of wish the current arc would end soon...

I'm diggin it. I don't like Raito though... I've been wanting to see L smash him in the face with a wrench since early on. I used to think MisaMisa was an idiot, but she got better. It's nice to see something with a bit more thought put into it running in Jump.

I am waiting for Viz to release it here, wouldn't be suprised if it is soon.
I think I like Raito more when he isn't so creepy and evil, but I'm just kinda sappy like that. L kicks ass though, he's my favorite character by far. Misa got on my nerves a lot at first, but I'm liking her a little bit more now.
Gotta agree with anonymous, I devoured the first 30 or so chapters but lately I've just been skimming. Raito (Light, whatever) is boring when he's not batshit.

It's lost most of the momentum it had before you-know-what

Yeah, but I get the feeling that it's gonna get a kick in the pants once Raito figures it out at the same time L's educated guess reaches 100%.

Needs more of L's monkey style kung-fu ^_^

SPOILER ALERT
This manga should've reached a point where either L and Raito win and the series ends. This whole "Raito doesn't know he was Kira" thing does have potential, though.

Well, if you guys have been skipping DN lately because of what happened to Raito/Light in the earlier chapters, you might want to check out chapter 53. =P

Where can I pick up chapter 53? The place I get my DN is down ;_;

Go Raito!!!!! Plot holes finally covered!
I really don't know that any good can come of this. They've just removed half of the driving force of this series, and pretty much all actual tension. Now, unless they can work some magic, there's no contest anymore. Besides L being my favorite character, I just don't know how they can find somebody who can rival Raito in L's place. There can't be *that* many super genius detectives sitting around, let alone ones with the resources and anonymity that L had, which is a large part of what allowed him to avoid being taken out before now. And with Misa having the eyes again to boot...
I'm not sure if the time skip bodes well either.
I love this series a lot, but I'm afraid it may have just shot itself in the foot.

I couldn't agree more Sakiyama! I was really disappointed with what happened to L (he was my favorite character as well) and where the manga is heading. I'm really not enjoying the manga at all now. I don't mind huge plot twists and such, but I think the way this all turned out just plain sucks. XD

his girl is hot and doesnt even hit that.
what a fag
Maybe he gets turned on by superior deductive reasoning and he's gay for Near and(or Mello. I'd bet on Mello. Hell, I first thought he was a girl.

it's soooo predictable!
you KNOW that the author will invent some stupid magical solution for Raito/Light to continue with his egocentric self-indulgent dumb "mission".
It's obvious that the scripts of DN are written backwards. That's how they manage to save Raito's gay ass out of every pseudo-problem they put him in.
Ok, but if that's true then what if the publisher wants more than what the origninal creator intended? BTW, I just picked up vol 4 from the bookstore 2day, looks friggin' sweet!

they invent a new argumental arc (like when Raito lost his memory and Rem passed the death note to that guy from yotsuba), add new shinigamis, include one new death note user, the typical shit...
i got really bored of DN, because it has so many constant plot holes, and the author doesn't really invent solutions, just lame excuses, like constantly adding or changing the DN rules. The DN was supposed to be easy to use, but since the whole thing lacks of sense, they've had to end inventing all those even more senseless rules.
BTW guys, what happened to the Death Eraser? It appeared on the one shot, so I bet it'll be showing sooner or later... lol

around volume 4 it still was a decent manga.
around volume 6, it starts losing all kind of sense and direction.
you'll see what I talk about when you see Raito so full of himself smiling like cockmongler because the author is giving him L's head in a silver plate.
after L's dead, the story jumps 5 year into the future where Kira/Raito is leader of the Japanese police, and people all around the globe provide him with names for the DN, international agencies want to stop Kira so investigators are sent to find his identity. Again.
WARNING, SPOILER ABOVE.

>>53 is not fucken serious is he? That's even more pointless than L dying.
[spoiler]The second arc takes place in the year 2009, four years after the events in the first arc. Possessing the identities of both L and Kira, Light seems invincible now. With many people, even governments around the world declare their support to Kira, Light is about to reach his ultimate goal of changing the world.
However, one day someone who calls himself Near and who claims to be the true successor of L contacts Light and demands his cooperation in capturing Kira. Near and his rival Mello are two bright young orphans who are trained to succeed L in an orphanage founded by Watari. Although they split ways after L's death, Near and Mello both attempt to track down Kira through their own means. Mello joins some criminal gang in the US and obtains the Death Note by kidnapping Sayu Yagami. Although the Death Note is eventually regained by the Japanese investigation team, Mello is able to find out about some of the rules of the Death Note. Near on the other hand, gains the support of the US government and forms the SPK. With certain information gained from Mello, Near suspects that the present L is actually Kira. Later, Near is able to deduce L's real identity from information he gained from Aizawa. Detecting the suspection, Light orders Misa to destroy all possible evidence against them and pass the ownership of the Death Note to Teru Mikami, the new Kira chosen by him. Light finally makes contact with Mikami through Kiyomi Takada, Mikami's chosen spokesman who incidentally was Light's girlfriend in college.[/spiler]
I knew it was pointless around the 3rd volume... the thing i hate the most about it is that Light passed from a genius to a genocide in a record time, and the authors doesn't seem to think he deserves to suffer any kind of punishment/consequence.
Light's not so smart, it's just everyone around him is plain stupid.
