WHY DO TEXTBOARDS EXIST? 4CHAN IS AN IMAGEBOARD AND NOBODY VISITS THE TEXTBOARDS ANYWAY?

But really, why do they exist? What is their purpose? All of the textboards have very low traffic (is there a graph about how low actually?), there's just no reason in having them.
