They saw an opportunity to screw the German people for restricting employment options available to Jews, so they took it. They hoarded all the capital in Germany and refused to give out loans during Germany's worst depression.

What was called for: Forcible financial reform.
What happened: The holocaust.
Were the Jews to blame? Partially, yes. But Hitler overreacted in a huge way.
Was he the only leader ever to employ genocide as a military tactic? Not by a long shot. Nearly every country is guilty of this, even America in its early days. With that out of the picture, Hitler's work to improve the post-Weimar economy in Germany was nothing short of heroic.
I think we have to make a distinction between "The Jews" and "that tiny, tiny number of German Jews who were influential in the German banking system and international finance at the time."
