HAHAHAHAHAHA. Go talk to anyone who actually works in the anime industry who the vast majority of anime shows are targeted for. Guess who they will say? Children and young teens.
>>Go to Japan you will see grownups with anime ringtones, and anything anime you will see for yourself
The best anime ever, without any doubt, is Evangelion. Not only is the plot amazing, it delivers important themes about society and has a lot of symbols about religion. Pisses me off that people don't understand how beautiful this anime is and I just want to punch them in the face.
apparently the anime is for children thing is the general consensus, but there are older teen/adult animes that exist(of varying quality). therefore, i'd be inclined to say that like the US, anime is USUALLY geared towards children, but unlike the US, japanese animation tends to take more risks and hit "golden time" more often (that weeeknight 8-10 block of time when the normal family most often watches TV.) as far as animated OPs and EDs being aired on the radio/being popular among japanese mainstream, thats a reverse association. the music isnt popular because japan likes anime, the music is popular because japanese directors plunk down big money for top-name bands. im pretty sure TM Revolution and Anna Tsuchiya are popular japanese artists even omong people who never saw gundam or nana, respectively. are they the top 10? probobly not. top 100? possibly. the translators suck/anime is better subbed-dubbed/translators 'water down' anime argument is moot. of course translators seem to water down japanese. for the most part, its a much milder language. saying no the wrong way can seriously offend a japanese person (found out the hard way). and almost 100% of the time i noticed that people prefer watching the subbed/dubbed version based on which they watched first.
Example: i watched trigun for the first time subbed (thank you internets). my freind watched trigun for the first time dubbed. to this day, we argue (debate) which is the superior version, and neither of us has convinced the other yet.
all in all, this leads me to believe that weeaboos like us are whiney bitches and can never be happy because we cant even sit back and appreciate the one thing we all like: friggen cartoons.

Hey,as you probably know, many people who look at anime often tend to like hentai. And I have watched some hentai, but I really don't get it. How can anyone like it? Sure, some of the parts can be really fun, but mostly it's just sick! How can grown up people seriosly sit and watch at drawned rape scenes?! Offcourse not all hentai is about grest demons raping small innocent grils, that seem to like to be raped, but I still don't get it. Because hentai is only a very strange perverted version of porn.
