I proposed this as a method to evade forced anonymous a while ago on 4ch.net society for discussion of message boards or whatever. To be honest, this method is pretty gay, but not in the way you think it is.
Some anonymous##mod user was complaining about its total ineffectiveness against posage, but that is not the purpose of <x>. Even tripcode users are subject to real posage, if they're not sufficiently established. The only real way to avoid posage is SoRu anonymous, that is, you are publically wide open to posage, and you are broadcasting your apathy toward this state of affairs. Pose as SoRu? So fucking what?
The gayness of this method, is the fact that you have this obstrusive <x> tag in here. To use the integrated name field on world4ch/4chan, you are being unobstrusive and a tad bit polite. When you use <x>, you are effectively shouting "I AM INST! I AM A GAY HOMOFAG!". I would have otherwise switched out of this method, if I had not a faint irrational fondness for the idiosyncrisy of the idea.
Who is Inst? Inst is a gay homofag who has been with 4chan since March 2004, he remembers that he has been here since January, but does not remember definitively whether he was fagging the place up until May, when he did what he considered a classic act of crapflooding with about 15 minutes of "Unhappy Negro", where /b/ was flooded with negro lynch mob victims with Billie Holiday("Strange Fruit") lyrics attached. Some 4chan users were calling the perpetrators of this crapflood racists, completely ignorant of the lyrics, their nature, and the culture.
Inst is not a gay homofag, in that he actually likes to screw men. Inst is a gay homofag, to use another slang term, in that he is a major asshole. Some #iichan opper, who may no longer exist, called him "Ignorant and Obnoxious". Lain called him a "pseudo intellectual version of Kintak", "who flames people because he wants other people to talk to him." SpookyDoom(or was that some other 4chan modder?) said "You were banned for being an idiot. Now don't fag up /newnew/ with your ban whining [or we'll ban you from /newnew/ too.]"
For a while, Inst was actually using the term Solipsist, on his handle. What is meant, is that he is a sort of self absorbed asshole. In philosophy, Solipsism means that you do not believe that other creatures are truly conscious, but in a more general context it can also be a fancy term for emo-fag.
