Complete solution for the lazy (the URLs are case-sensitive, by the way):

Stage 1 - Easy
Stage 2 (rsvt.htm) - The URL is in a darker oval near the left of centre
Stage 3 (tykca.htm) - Very pale grey text on a white backdrop - if you're viewing on an LCD screen, look up or down at a very steep angle, otherwise use the levels or magic wand tool on 0 tolerance in Photoshop.
Stage 4 (o.htm) - One of those cross-eyed magic eye pictures - well there done for excluding anyone who can't do them.
Stage 5 (pylc.htm) - Highlight the image in IE.
Stage 6 (shdfe.htm) - Save the "image", change the extension to .txt and open in text editor
Stage 7 (syyk.htm) - View the page source - the code is the first part of the image filename
Stage 8 (mukki.htm) - Some of the letters are slightly darker than others - adjust the levels in Photoshop, or select by colour, or use the colour picker/eyedropper and watch the values
Stage 9 (ca.htm) - The code is hidden in black letters surrounded by a progressively lighter halo of grey. Use levels, magic wand or select by colour in Photoshop.
Stage 10 (uas.htm) - Yes, it really is that easy - the very light grey letters below it must be a red herring.
Stage 11 (hvk.htm) - In the page, the letters are hidden by the GIF transparency - save it and view it in any other image editor/viewer. The code is split over three slightly wobbly "rows".
Stage 12 (nybjcy.htm) - The thick bar is a capital "I", and there is a very thin capital "L" running along the bottom and left edges of the picture (it almost blends in with the picture border).
Stage 13 (LI.htm) - The letters are stacked vertically and squashed together.
Stage 14 (IOV.HTM) - The letters are squashed together.
Stage 15 (IVVVO.HTM) - The noise is all grey, but the code is slightly pinkish - use Photoshop levels to reveal, or click with 0-tolerance magic wand selector in the top left quarter of the image. Best method I found is use Photoshop's select colour tool, set the fuzziness value to ~120 and run the eyedropper slowly along the top left quarter of the image.
Stage 16 (kelxly.htm) - The end!
