current primetime comedy with canned laughter

Name: Anonymous 2010-11-24 19:41

I posit the following:
The canned laughter that is so often heard (as foreground, as conversation) in many primetime comedy shows (sometimes known as 'sitcoms') is fake.
It is well known that canned laughter has been used before, even in live productions.
The voices are laughing at you.
The actors pause in sync with the voices beginning. (This may not be important)
The voices are laughing at you.
21/2 men ``faggots'' is one example of a show that uses this technique.
It is a sign of the times and will pass.
The voices are laughing at you.

can we ask serious questions about society, like why is the television so schizophrenic!?!?

I think they 'enhance' it, but as someone who has sat through tapings of Leno and the equally god-awful Shit My Dad Says, I can say with certainty that they are indeed filmed in front of a live studio audience.

I def noticed that the laughter sounded WAY bigger on TV then it did in person, though.
