the cinematic experience.

ok, let's talk about movie viewing environments. dvds, to be specific. are you anal about WHERE you watch movies? does your room have to be dark? people around? (or no people?)

how about where you sit? does a computer chair suffice, or do you need a good couch? reclined on bed?

i know it sounds silly talking about something so trivial, but actually i think it's a big deal. the surroundings do factor into my enjoyment. personally, i like to watch movies at night since there isn't really any dark enough room available here. during the day, the light is a distraction, i want to fully immerse myself into a movie and forget about the outside world. if i suspect it could be a good movie, i will definitely wait until the evenings and set aside a time to properly watch and get into it.

unfortunately my chair isn't the most comfortable, but it's tolerable. i do also like to lie back in bed and watch movies on my laptop. sure, the screen size isn't anything fantastic but it beats the hell out of sitting in a theatre with a loud fatty beside you.

also, while it's fun watching with others, i do enjoy the convenience of pausing whenever i want to get snacks, and so on. or maybe some quick imdbing in between.

so, tell me how you watch movies.

In House:

Tv is hooked up to pc and dvd/vhs, I just lie on my bed or sit in comp. chair if I'm eating something in a deep bowl like soup or..whatever else is served in one of those. Normally a soda or crisps with it. If I'm watching it for the first time in my house I'll probably have some extra soda and crisps, maybe even nachos.

Normally just watch episodes of Heroes/Jericho/etc in week days and around 2 or 3 movies on weekends.

In the theater:

Normally sit in the first 10 rows from the screen, in the middle with largest soda they have and if I'm in the mood I'll have some popcorn or nachos. Usually go in the morning or midday to avoid crowds/annoying people that mostly come in late afternoon or evening. In most cases it will be just me and around 10 people scattered around a 150+ place.

Usually go at least once a week.
