adult swim really needs to get it's shit together.  sealab degenerated into a shitpile, athf (their one sure-fire hit) has no new episodes coming for quite some time, "ozmo" and stroker & hoop are awful.

ATHF is good.  Harvey Birdman is good.  Sealab was good.  that's all their is to adult swim.  I watch the CB dub whenever i see it come on because it's good and it's my favorite anime, and none of the episodes really get old though surely i've seen a few 20+ times.  I just love it!  All the other anime is pretty bad (dubbed, anyway.  Full Metal Alchemist and FLCL are pretty good.  I really don't mind the FLCL dub but only so many times you can watch those six eps!)

ATHF is like a ghetto South Park wannabe but it's quite amusing.

is it better or worse than Stargate-1? Stargate-1 is intellectual bankrupt, but it's still highly enjoyable.

but seriously, they're a channel coasting on the ratings of reruns of shows that aren't theirs in the first place. i'd go so far as to say that no series they have started since AS began has been ANY good, save venture brothers, which effectively outclasses everything on the channel. athf is about all that's left, because it's setup is best at delivering the "random shit happens" plots. robot chicken has about thirty seconds of decent gags per fifteen minute episode. as such it ought to be reduced to an ad campaign. stroker and hoop was motherchristing terrible and i can't believe they aired it. is the other new shit this bad? have they shown any of it yet? i only watch family guy reruns on this channel noawadays!

side note: The bumps have gone from well-meaning idiot hipster (trying to sell you shit) to obnoxious full-of-self idiot hipster (trying harder than ever before to sell you shit), which is a really bad thing. they've completely dropped the comforting marketing illusion of "bumps written by human beings".

as for the anime, shit, when is non-inuyasha/CB anime ever on AS? KAGOOOOMEEEEEE etc.

Am I the only one that LIKES stroker and hoop?  It's actually one of the better shows in their lineup. Most of you are probably too young to remember detective shows like "Magnum   P.I." or "Simon and Simon", but Stroker and Hoop is actually a pretty okay parody of that genre.  Not brilliant, but watchable.  Other good and pretty good Adult Swim shows are Aqua teen, Harvey Birdman, Space Ghost, Home movies (they badly need to make new eps of Home movies!), obviously family guy.  Mission Hill was pretty good.  Sealab used to be good, then became embarrassingly terrible.  Robot chicken is really, really fucking stupid.  Oblongs suck.  I don't really like much of the anime they show, except Cowboy Bebop, which has been done to death anyway.
There's my 2 cents on adult swim programming.

We don't get CN nor AS in Canada, but we do get a few CN shows mainly on Teletoon here and most of them are cheaply made crap.  It's amazing that Canadian cartoons look to be higher quality -- which is saying a lot.

I would highly recommend that CN actually get the US licence rights for Canadian cartoons if it was not for the fact that every time in the past this has been done they get censored and cut-up due to being too risque.  Even shows with absolutely no nudity get censored for sexual content.  It doesn't help that many shows have lots of swearing to which would have to be beeped.  Then there's the political incorrectness which we somehow get away with despite having hatred laws.

But if somehow such shows would make it without any edits, AS would be doing great.

I've got a question, why is Venture bros. so good? how did Adult Swim get their hands on such a good show??

The pilot episode didn't do much for me.  But I gotta admit...  Stroker and Hoop is actually pretty good.  Not Venture Brothers good mind you, but still not bad.

I like home movies because at least my brain is somewhat stimulated by it. 15-30 mins is the most I can watch though.
Pretty much every other AS show ever made sucks ass. Especially ATHF, it's pathetic how many people think that show is funny.

I never really watched Adult Swim except for the anime.  About three/four years ago I started downloading fansubs so I haven't really seen much of AS since then.  I tune in every once in a while just to see what's new and to awe at how horribly they dubbed Fullmetal Alchemist!  And also to laugh at the fact that I actually used to watch Naruto (what was I thinking)?

As for their non-anime.  I think the only thing I watched consistently was Futurama and that's only because I used to watch it when it was on Fox.  I would once in a while tune in for Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Home Movies.  I never liked Family Guy, though.

The only problem with Adult Swim lies in the demographic. If it didn't have a festering cesspool of teenage miscreants watching it in order to consider themselves "outside the mainstream" while shopping at hot topic, we would get a lot of awesome shows.


But, since the kiddies do watch it, and they shop at hot topic, we are all fucked. Now would be the time to invest in some Beavis and Butthead, Duckman, The Tick, and Rocko's Modern Life.

I would probably not mind their anime block had they chosen Ranma 1/2 instead of Inuyasha...both repetitive formula's but Ranma just works for me, Inuyasha just pisses me off.

Shows are made in seasons. The second one premieres in January, I think (they mentioned it on a bump).

Stroker and Hoop is watchable, 12 oz. Mouse is shit, and with the exception of Big O and to an extent, Ghost in the Shell, Action is Generic Otaku fare. At least they don't air Evangelion....
