Artificial Intelligence Bots

Curious, are there any DECENT AI chatbots out there?
Some sites let you make your own which is nice and all but then it means you've got idiots making them for celebrity's and the like. Then you've got really impressive ones like A.L.I.C.E. and clerverbot who are so abused by the lovely people of the net they no longer function as intended.
So; any non-corrupted chatbots or shall I just make my own? Essentially for conversation to start with, before things like making it do small tasks. Any reqs?

I recommend making your own. The big problem with these is that it is so easy to get monologued responses that have no emotional backing to it. Also when the user realizes that they have no fear of hurting the bot's feelings or of being snitched on, they resort to insults, terrorism and slutty-talk. The lazy response that programmers give it is some sort of cop-out like "I don't have genitals" or some other nonsense. None of them are brave enough to have their bots cuss back at the aggressor or return the verbal sexual harassment back at them in such a way that there are serious consequences. The 4 laws of robotics never covered non-violent criminal offenses because robots aren't immediately harmed by these activities so there is no protocol to prevent them. Eventually the bot breaks from dis-repair and neglect. What a sad life of a machine that can't dream of those electric sheep that it enjoys chewing on.

Cleverbot Existor

yes, but they are retail solutions for enterprises and retailers, and of course, political purposes, anyway, theyre not cheap, but they are quite good. just search for "intelligent chat agent" or similar to find some companies.

There was this one that I used and it was absolutely incredible. I found it in about 2009 and it was called something along the lines of "ALICE" except it wasn't the really-popular chatbot Alice but a downloadable chatbot that learned and grew and such and you could have full-on conversations.

All I really remember about it was that it had a GUI similar to DOS and such, except it was black and green.
