I am thinking about switching to fedora 18 and I'm wondering if its worth the switch. I'm currently running red hat and this is all on my workstation.

Is there any reason you are currently using redhat, or that you want to stick with a redhat style OS? If you aren't chained to some specific feature of the redhat family, maybe you should explore a bit and try something different, like Arch, OpenSUSE, or Slackware if you're feeling adventurous.
Happy Hacking!

Find a distro with a community you like, regular updates, and a stable repository system, and you'll be fine. You can always change or replace the window manager to suit your tastes. There isn't really any good reason for or against fedora 18. Some people like it, some don't. I simply prefer other distros.
