Boot from ipod

Hello /tech/, I have been trying tirelessly for the past two weeks to turn an old 120 GB iPod Classic into a bootable drive so I can install and run Linux from there without installing anything on my internal HDD.
My main question would be, how can I completely format the iPod disk drive so that it wipes everything. When I do the normal format in Windows from 'My Computer' it doesn't remove the OS.

Hi, I'm just posting to say that I wish I knew how to help you with you problem, however I have never fucked with iPods. So regretfully I don't know but you will likely need to get a utility that does a more direct format/interation in general, which there are probably at least a few. I'm not like saying, ``go back to'', or what not, but in all honesty, try some subforum of reddit or somewhere on slashdot where there's at least more people than me who will read your thread, or better yet search for a forum dedicated to iPod homebrew.
