Connecting PS2 up to LCD Screen

Hello /tech/, sorry to bother you but I have a little problem on my hands.
I have been trying to use my ps2 on my Samsung Syncmaster 931bw LCD screen by way of PS2 --> PS2 component cable --> Component to VGA box --> VGA cable --> LCD. I have switched my PS2 settings from RGB to YPbPr and still nothing works.
The screen recognizes the input but it just flickers black. I have been searching the internets for months looking for solutions but cannot find anything of help. You are my last solution /tech/.
