old pc problem

hey guys i was asked to fix a pc at work but i can't seem to figure out the problem.

when the power is turned on the fans and power light come on but nothing else happens. it's a fairly old computer and had a recent RAM upgrade. it worked fine for 2 months after the uprgrade so i wouldn't think that that was the problem. one thing i did notice is that the hdd activity light doesn't blink or light up at all on startup.

also, there are no beeps from the mobo speaker on startup that would normally happen when memory is the issue.

i've tried removing the battery and resetting it as this fixed a similar problem i had with another pc, but it didn't work.

any help would be greatly appreciated as he is very adamant about not buying another computer.

i'll continue to monitor this thread in case anyone else has another idea, or a similar problem.
