I've gotten hold of a 250GB WD hard disc - basically it's a pull from a laptop that I was asked to repair. Got the lappy up by swapping the disc, fair enough.
This disc has a password on it at the firmware level - basically, you need to complete a password challenge successfully before you can issue any other ATA commands to the drive.
Now I don't give a rat's arse about the data on the disc, but surely there's a way to wipe the data and start from scratch.
I've tried MHD3 and ATAPWD without success. I was thinking about cobbling something up to try and brute force it via HDParm but as I said, I don't really care about the data - just can make use of the disc.
Any suggestions, anon?
