New Laptop, suggestions?

Hi, seems my old Toshiba laptop has crapped out on me, so I'm in the market for a new one.

I'd like to find one that's quite powerfull and relatively cheap. I'm being flooded by laptops with things I won't get much use out of, blu-ray, integrated camera, "design", fingerprint readers etc. wich causes the price to raise considerably.

I don't care much for size, design or utilities, I need a beast that can handle large amounts of data and handle it effectively, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
