How to get a Website onto the Internet

Okay, so I've created a website.  How do I get it onto the internet?  I mean, for free?  Is there somewhere I can copy and paste the code?

Sorry if I sound like a retard, but I don't know much about all this website stuff and I have horrible people skills.
