64-bit or 32-bit w/ server kernal

Hey /tech/, I'm planning on building a new machine next month after I get my semi-annual bonus check from work (around $900, I'm a part-timer). I have a pretty decent machine lined out, AM2 socket mobo, AMD Phenom X4 2.6Ghz, 8GB DDR2 RAM, and an ATI HD Radeon 4850. After a standard case and a 550W PSU, this'll run me about $700. I have for the longest time used Ubuntu (currently using 8.04.1 LTS), and I would like to continue using it. Here's my dillema: Do I go 64-bit and get full usage out of the machine right away, or should I stay in 32-bit Ubuntu with the restricted server kernal for extended memory support and SMP. The latter would take a short bit longer to set up, but I'd have less issues (or so I hear) running my few Windows apps thru Wine. But then again I wouldn't be using the full 64-bit potential of my CPU. Any advice would be appriciated.

Why run windows apps? Wine is for people secretly want to run windows.

if your machine is a server, i'm pretty sure you can find linux alternatives to those windows applications.
probably however wine will run them anyway at 64 bit.
Install a 64bit os.
P.s: I wouldnt raccomend ubuntu for a server, that sudo thing doesnt make me feel safe...
