Hello all. I'm hoping I can get some help repairing my optical drive.
My drive will not recognize any discs. It whirs around, and I see the CD cursor for a few seconds, but the volume doesn't show up. I've updated the drivers, even uninstalled and re-installed the device, without success. All other drivers are up-to-date. Looks like a hardware problem.
I've had this PC (an HP Pavilion dv6000) for almost 2 years, and have only used the disc drive (Matshita DVD-R/CDRW) a few times, for no unusual purposes. I suspect it may have 0wn3d itself when attempting to read a retail copy of Far Cry. Like many Ubi games, FC has a copy protection scheme that makes it unreadable in most drives. Perhaps I need to recalibrate?
Please help me out, guys. Thanks.
