This is a question that makes sense without a shred of context, you feel?

4 Chan images all have numbers as file names. Some people can see the original file names. How do they accomplish this?

By not being blind.

Thank god. I saw the filenames sometimes but not others, and it was confusing the fuck out of me.

in windows XP, it's pretty annoying when a filetype is registered such as poop.gif and you can't rename it to fuck.shit
because it wants to keep the .gif filename so your change would be fuck.shit.gif
the way I usualy get around this is switching to a dos prompt and making my way to the directory the filename is in and use the ren command.
is there a way to tell windows to let me worry about filename extensions?

I think you need to disable "hide file extensions for known filetypes" in the folder options->view menu. I always do that when I install xp and I never had a problem renaming file extensions.

Another way would be to delete your system32 folder as this contains the current list of file extensions and when you delete it you get to change the file extension of each file you rename

to see file names: find the thread, clicky "reply", see filenames show up. Or check the exif data.
anyone got the nimp link for that exif data checker?
