Right now these are the specs of my crap:
Asus P4S533 Motherboard
2ghz P4
1 Gig of pc2700 ram spread out over 3 slots 512,256,256
256mb Geforce 6800GS
Now would it be worth it to let this computer last a little bit longer if I got some new ram? Going to 2 gig with 1 gig on each stick as this would increase ram efficiency?
Now I look on newegg.com and plugged my motherboard in and it shows 3200 which i know should downclock but still seems it would be more efficient http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=1052308477&Configurator=MemoryConfigurator&CFG=CFG003P4S533+(all+revisions)&name=2GB+(2+x+1GB)
The issue I have though is because it's old ram, it's relatively expensive on newegg. Is there a better place to get oldram at cheaper too? Any other suggestions as to improve the efficiency of my machine to last another year or 2 as I cant really afford a complete overhaul new system as I'm in college and got various other important bills/expenses to take care of.
