Gaming PC

Well, I decided to get a new gaming rig, because this one is fucking old. I'm planning to get this setup sometime next week. I'd like some input, and please, trolls, keep away.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66ghz
GPU: Nvidia 8800GTS 640MB
RAM: 667mhz, 1GBx2, 512MBx2 (dual-channel.)
PSU: Zalman 600W PSU
HDD: WD 500GB SATAII
MBD: ASUS S775 I945GC
I'm also buying a different cooler for the CPU.

Oh and I'm intending to run games before 2008 in 1680x1050, on at least medium. Would this work?

Dunno, don't care. Ask in /v/ or some gamer forum.

Dump the GPU for the 8800GT 512mb. It runs better than the GTS and it is alot cheaper. See if you can bump the CPU to something better with more ghz (using the money you saved with the GPU). I do not know how you're going to do it but the ASUS S775 I945GC only has two slots for RAM (which I will conspire it to be DDR2) so you could only fit two sticks of 1GB. Now fine yourself a case that includes fans, purchase a bigger fan for the CPU. The PSU is okay (600w) but if possible try to get one with more wtz in case you plan on upgrading in the future by adding more crap to the rig. With eVGA's Geforce 8800GT, Pentium 4 3.40Ghz, a corsair 1gb DDR2 stick and a 512mb (generic) ram, a 300gb sata western digital , an Antec 500w PSU, two fans in the case (one to cool the hard-drives and the other at the back as usual) plus one fan on the CPU of about 5" (generic brand), and a MSI MS-7255 mainboard I can run crisis looking good at almost high settings.

PS3 shits all over your shitty gaming pc for 1/5 of the price you'll pay.

Dump the GPU for the 8800GT 512mb the new gts is faster then the gt, the gts is and always will be faster based on the model number

so you could only fit two sticks of 1GB

theres 2gb sticks

Or instead of buying overpriced out of date tech wait 1.5 months for the brand new 45nm intel cores (the midrange E8500 has a factory clock of 3.3ghz) and the new 9XXX series cards are coming out in a few months. Bad time to buy a gaming comp. atm because brand new tech is about a month away. If you shell out alot of cash for a "high end" gaming comp right this very moment, in a few weeks it will be old news. Remember the 8800 series is 1 year old so just be patient and you will be better off

If he waits for the new Intel cores, those will be out of date a month or two later. When it comes to tech stuff, especially computer hardware, it's always out of date or will be in a month or two.

go with the q6600, you're not going to notice a difference between .40 and .66 and you can overclock the q to 3.4

4 cores@3.4 > 2 cores@however high you can push it.
you're going to save at least 250 on that switch.

plus you're good for the next set of games that start supporting 4 cores. if you have 2 when those come out.. ur gonna need to upgrade.
