magnets and speakers

Will a strong magnet affect the output of the average speaker? Googling 'speaker' and 'magnet' turns up things the speaker magnet might screw up, but not the other way around.

If you put the magnet inside the cone (of the average voice coil in an average paper or poly cone driver) it would affect the output and probably ruin the cone.  you should try it.  if you fuck up, you can get new average speakers and, at least continue down the road of mediocrity having learned something.
