galactic civilization + linux = fail?

so i tried as hard as i could to penis up my linux install with wine and its derivatives but alas it wasn't enough. virtualization isn't an option and i'm too lazy/stubborn to get a windows box running (as i have none at the moment). has anoyne had a win situation here and want to share?

Well there is a nice open source remake of Master of Orion that is called Free Orion, they even have a wiki: http://www.freeorion.org/index.php/Main_Page

Tell us why you can't use virtualization.

Try cadega if you can, but other than that you're out of luck unless you can fix your Wine problem.

Always check the appdb first.

It looks like GalCiv doesn't work too well under Wine at the moment.

@2: cba atm since it's not in my distro

@3: qemu et al piss me off with horrible graphics performance, AND i'd have to fuck around with installing windows then massaging its testicles. i've tried winehq cedega and crossover.. all full of fail.

@4: why do you think i'm posting this to begin with?

@all: thanks for your input--however useless it was...
