HDMI/firewire

are hdmi and firewire compatible? would i be able to send digital video from my camcorder through its firewire port to my TV's hdmi port so that i dont lose the digital connection? basically just avoiding analog....

or, could i record video onto my computer from my cable box's hdmi port with my firewire card?

also, can someone explain to me why all these HD codec type things would rather have me save my video as 480x272 rather than 270, even though 270 would be the proper 19:6 aspect? does it have something to do with pixel aspect ratios? because ive never seen a pixel aspect ratio that small from 1:1

Yes you're right, HDMI and Firewire is compatibile, you will easily be able to send your camcorder footage to your tv. This way it ensures total pure digital signal and no stingy VHS/DVD quality. And as for the cable box, same idea just into the box instead of the tv.

You will need a Firewire/Dvi converter then a DVI/HDMI converter, this will run you around over $9000.

Heres an example setup of my friends which I just uploaded, I hope it will help you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2b1D5w82yU

The HD codec is incorrect, you are most likley using programs created before the HD over 9000 era, you should visit your local library and pick up a new copy.
