This may be the wrong place to ask, but it's probably the best on 4chan.
Basically, I'm messing around with making some drum pickups. Now, the piezos I have obviously generate a decaying, oscillating wave when excited. I'd like to have a circuit that just emits a simple pulse when the drum is struck (Suitable for microcontroller or FPGA input. I figure the easiest way to do this would be using a comparator to clip every peak below a certain threshold, but I'm not sure how well that would do with something like rapid drumming. Thoughts?
Doing a barrel roll will not help, I already tried.
