It claims "Divx", but that can mean a lot of stuff. Anybody know what it specifically does/doesn't do?

Philips DVP642 and its replacement model can do everything this one can do, at the same price at Target or even cheaper elsewhere.  So can those Toshiba DVD/VCR combo units that go for only $80 at Best Buy, but with better MPEG-4 performance.

Don't expect compatibility with 3-point GMC or QPEL, so compatibility will be better with Divx than with Xvid.  Xvids and other MPEG-4 files without either feature enabled will work fine.

Since it was mentioned, Wal-Mart is a predatory retailer that is ultimately bad for the American economy.  Their SOP is to constantly stifle competition through undercutting alternative retailers on bait&switch loss-leaders that they advertise with the intent of pushing upgraded merch at non-competitive prices.  They ignore local labor laws where possible.  They apply pressure on goods manufacturers to move their production facilities out of the United States in order to keep up with Wal-Mart's volume pricicing demands.  Look up what they did to Vlasic (pickles) and, far worse, Rubbermaid (household wares).  These are just two examples of what they regularly do to big corporations; little guys stand no chance of getting out of bed with WM without the asspounding of their lives.  So enjoy your bag of candy that is 3 cents less than at the supermarket.  The savings does not offset the hidden costs.
