Getting a new Harddrive

Ok, I want to get a second harddrive, another 100gigs, the 100gigs I have now isisnt enough storage for me. I'm assuming a HD isint plug and play or one size fits all, so is there anything I should know?

bestbuy has 400gig portables for like $150, i would go that route
