Running games on a PS2 from a harddrive?

I have an SCPH-39001 PS2 and harddrive and network adaptor. I heard there's a way to be able to rip games to the harddrive and play them from there. Is it also possible to put ISOs into the harddrive from the computer and play them on a PS2? It isn't modded so I can't play backups directly.
