itunes 7 sucks. it wont update or charge my ipod. i have to update to 1.2 ipod software. but some error pops up (1413). nd it wont let me upddte the songs. what do i do?

use gtkpod.
or use rockbox or ipodloonix on your ipod and then you don't have to use a special program to put music on it.

1) Install Rockbox. (iPodLinux fails, sadly.)

Optional steps:

2) Install GNU/Linux.

3) Install amaroK.

4) Win.

You forgot
2.1) Install FreeBSD. Or OS X. Or any other unix-like system with decent package management.
You can just skip step 2 and go straight to 2.1. You'll have less headaches that way.
