1366x768

I bought a 37" Lcd TV, through my PC I'm having a lot of trouble getting it to use it's native resolution, because the horizontal isn't divisible by 8.

I'm using the VGA port on the TV and I suppose I could also try HDMI to DVI, but I don't have the cable for that.
My video card (nvidia 6800gt) only has two DVI ports, I have it using VGA with help from a converter.

Using PowerStrip as many have suggested has not helped me at all, I can get the display properties to say "1366x768" but it's always really at 1360 or 1368.
Also, the latest nvidia drivers are supposed to give me HDTV options but I can't find any...which I think is related to my brand having funky EDID (Syntax Olevia)

Would getting a different cable setup help?
I've heard linux doesn't have this problem but I'm saving that as a last resort.

Ugh, I got an HDMI to DVI cable and now everything looks washed out with a ghost hue.
It gave me the HDTV options in nvidia, but this is absolute shit x_x

Step 1 - go back in time to before you bought this piece of crap
Step 2 - .... well you get the picture (or not in this case)

Also, get a good cable.
all cables that costs <$20 are bad cables, with some rare exceptions

Check the manufacturer's website to see if they provide drivers or advice? Maybe update the driver for your video card, and check their forums or website for advice?
