Olympic Baseball & Softball Final Year

Why is this the last year for Men's Baseball and Women's Softball in the Olympic Games?

They have introduced Badmitten and Handball to the Olympics this year, and this same year they have announced the final year for Baseball and Softball.

Can anyone logically tell me why this is so?

Knowing an Athens silver medallist in badminton, trust me when I say that badminton has been in the Olympics for a while and wikifu tells me that Handball had a showing at 1936 olympics and that its been regular since 72.

Softball and Baseball where stripped for a number of reasons, but the main base to these reasons is the lack of international support for these sports (8 countries are competing in Baseball at Beijing compared with more than twelve in Handball and (I think) 10 in Mens Basketball) and the fact that Baseball at the end of the day is pretty boring. Its not sufficently dynamic ot accessable to be televised in mosts nations and fewer spectators at the games themselves are interested in attending them. This leads in to the 3rd point that they require specialised facilities that are largely unusuable for other sports.Finally, a lack of cooperation from MLB means that the biggest stars do not attend the games, unlike in tennis and mostly soccer and basketball, and prevents the olympic baseball from being considered a competition of the best players.
