A black hole is a region of space from which nothing can escape (save for Hawkins radiation but that's an exception since it only represents the half of a pair outside of the event horizon).  A white hole is a region of space into which nothing can enter (but from which things may leave).

Actually, if white holes were more common, it would explain why some phenomena seems rare from our perspective - lots of perception blind spots.
