Quantum Mechanics destroyed Determinism and the Great Spacetime Loaf of Bread.
Nonetheless, "free will" is still an illusion. We like to think that we are in control of our brains, but the truth is, our consciousness is built upon an electrochemical cluster fuck. Everything we do and everything we are exposed to tips our delicate chemical balance and can have unpredictable and drastic affects on our minds.
Worse, we can't even trust our brains when we're stable and healthy. Look at optical illusions. When our brains can't make sense of what they see, they will blatantly LIE. Our conscious minds can know what is actually happening, but our brains continue to lie to us. But that's not all. If our brains are bored... or under stress... or, well, whenever... they can make shit up out of thin air for no reason. Look online for some experiments you can perform yourself. Basically, if you block off most of your dominant senses (completely block your eyes from light, listen to white noise static, etc), you will start hallucinating. Vividly. At first it's disorienting, then it's awesome, but then you get a sense of extreme distrust of your own brain. Worth checking out.
