Brainpower

Name: Anonymous 2010-03-24 20:31

So I know that humans currently only use 2% of the brain's actual capabilities; We can't go above that due to the massive amounts of energy it would take to power the brain. I'm just wondering if anyone has any idea of how we could provide enough power to go above those limits and also how we could even get out bodies to use a higher percentage. Seeing as what we can do with just 2%, it would be amazing to see what would happen if we doubled that.
Thoughts?

It's not an issue of power, It's an issue of never using/activating the possibilities. If we could teach more efficiently and stuff doctorate level information of all subjects into our children early in life, They'd probably hit 3%. Long story short: We don't know enough to need the extra bits.

you guys are fuckin idiots...

we actively use a low percentage of our brain for thought processes, emotions and movement.

the rest of the brain monitors all the passive activities that are going on in the body.

if you wanna control it all, go ahead, use 100% of your brain actively, sever all your info nerves and think hard about breathing, heart beating, digesting, etc.

This thread is an embarassment.  An introductory psych text with a neuroscience chapter would tell you it's an old wives' tale, perhaps popularized by some self-help or motivational book from a few decades ago.
