Digital signals through electrolytes

Name: Anonymous 2010-01-15 21:34

I'm more of a computer science guy than a science guy, but I had this idea the other day. Since the human body transmits its signals using ionic solutions, would it be feasible to create a digital computer that uses electrodes attached to tubes of electrolyte for IO (or even internal connections)? Of course, if this is possible, it wouldn't be as effective as just using copper or gold wire, but you've got to admit that a processor consisting of a bunch of logic gates hooked together with liquid tubes would look cool.
