I think most peoples trouble with math is not knowing the difference between knowing the name of something and knowing how something works.

This is my problem. I don't know what square roots are, I don't understand the surface or underlying relationships between mathmatical processes.
I just looked up addition and anything past adding whole numbers together just doesn't click with me.
It's not that I'm dumb either, I have a PhD in Developmental Neuroscience - I just suck at math.
