Winning the Powerball

Name: Anonymous 2009-04-30 0:06

I heard it could be done using Chaos Theory. Is this true?

It can be done by buying all the numbers.

The odds of winning the Powerball number is 195,249,054 to 1. You would therefore need 195,249,054 dollars to purchase every combination. That sounds a bit inefficient. LOL

Wasn't there some guy who won the game 4 times in a row because of some kind of magic formula he found?

Yes, but no.

No, but yes.

No not exactly, but yes, more or less, and yes, very.

1. Using the words magic and formula in conjunction should be understood as an oxymoron.  And the invocation of the word magic forces the response: Maybe, got proof?

In the interests of integrity I checked your story.  Apparently a couple bought 4 different tickets bearing the same number for the same drawing, and won less than a million total.  There is no indication that they have won at any other time.  Why is this significant?  Or rather, why is this more significant than the little old lady who got her numbers from her cat?  Let's see them repeat it.

In theory yes but not in practice. You'd need to know too many variables that you couldnt get unless you went to the draw and examined every ball for imperfections, its location in the group, force and speed/frequency of mixing apparatus, air temperature, humidity, gravity, mass of each individual ball, coefficients of friction between balls, ball and walls and balls and mixing apparatus, all sorts of other nonsense.
>>2 and >>3 I cba to work out the odds but if the jackpot is over it then buying every ticket would work so long as noone else won too.

For >>6 see if you find Derren Brown's 'The System.' Hes a british TV mentalist and probable alien but explains why people win things in a row

SEEMS LEGIT

Buying four tickets with the same numbers and winning the lottery != Winning the lottery four times.

>But after presenting the first two tickets, Judith Adamson said, "I'm in a state of shock." She also said they had been playing the same numbers for several years.
