...who prefers doing math without a calculator?

Let's face it, without a calculator, most people are lost when it comes to doing trigonometry, calculus, power functions, etc...  The calculator is a fine tool when it is used for expediency, but most people use it because they can't do the simplest of math in their heads, nor do they know how to use things like the Taylor Series (which I have used whenever I was stupid enough to forget my calculator for an exam).  And God forbid they ever have to find the square root of a number!  They're fucked then.

So, are there any other people here who refuse to use their calculator because they can do the math without it?

For the most part, I make sure I can do the doable math without a calculator. I'll do trig functions at regular angles in my head about half the time just so I still can, but for the most part, I use a calculator whenever possible. At least until I find myself doing basic arithmetic on a calculator without even noticing it.....that's kinda the line.

I finished a math degree, and I find myself wanting to review arithmetic.  Never took a numerical methods course though.
