About behavior toward existence

Name: divagations 2009-02-15 9:36

If no goal for existence is known to us, or if there is no goal to existence, then we are unable to define what is best to do, hence :
Limits we are trying to impose to our behavior (by moral, justice, faith, etc..) have worth only, if they serves to fill a mean.
Usage of comparisons to make choices (“this is better than that”, “this way of doing is worse”, etc..) are worthless, because, those comparisons only have a value if they are used to accomplish something.
We can distinguish two cases for existence, the case where existence have a goal, and the case where existence have no goal.

In the case, where existence, does not have a goal, since nothing have to be accomplished by our actions, every behavior is justified. In simpler terms, murder, pity, willing to do sports, stealing, praying, are all having the same worth.
Effectively, in a world, where there is no particular goal, we have no reason whatsoever to privilege good to evil, happiness to sadness, because neither happiness nor sadness are goals. In that case, we have no way to define what is being better or being worse.

In the case, where existence, have a goal.
There are two cases to be distinguished, the case where everything in existence is made to accomplish this goal, and the case, where existence could be flawed (hence, the goal could “not be reached”).
In the case where existence is perfect and where the goal is to be accomplished. Then whatever our actions are, they won't change anything to the outcome, the goal will be reached. Consequently we do not need, to choose a certain kind of behavior regarding the existence. Which imply that happiness has no reason to be chosen against sadness, and love is not more suitable than hate in regard to this goal (simply put, the goal will be carried on whatever we are doing). So we have no way to define what could be better or worse, since the outcome of our acts are already chosen.

In the case where existence is not perfect, it is to say, its goal could “not be reached”, then whatever our actions are, we have no way to detect what the flaw could be because, the method used to find this flaw, could be flawed itself. So, we cannot define what behavior we should have. In this case as well, thinking that love and justice are better than scrupulous notions, has as much chance to be true as the opposite. As well as the notions of better/worse could be wrong.

Consequently, whether, we are living in a world without a goal, or in a world with a goal that can't be known, or even with an unavoidable goal, nothing has value and nothing could be preferred to anything else, because every notions of better/worse are worthless.

So, since this explanation can't be better than another one, we can conclude that:
“This explanation has meant nothing, it's worthless”
And, asking people not to follow a certain behavior, is already asking for a certain kind of behavior, so it's useless too.
I only hope, that it could be considered as “true”, even thought it's also a logical state backed up by nothing.

"Moral is useless".

Everybody prioritizes happiness over sadness, so your point is moot.  If existence were really without goals, then we should all an hero right now.

In the case where existence is perfect and where the goal is to be accomplished. Then whatever our actions are, they won't change anything to the outcome, the goal will be reached
lolwut  A perfect existence requires us to choose actions in a specific manner -> choose wrong actions, and existence is no longer perfect.  Thus, our actions matter, and do change the outcome.

“This explanation has meant nothing, it's worthless”
Great way to sum yourself up.

lol. autofailyour.

The "goal" for existence is change. Change occurs because of motion. So, explain to yourself why motion exists in everything at all times whether we look at it or not and you will prove to yourself and the rest of the world that your head isn't in your colon, but rather on its way out into the daylight...where you can see simple truths right in front of your eyes. All that we see is the interactions between events as they change. If everything remained the same, we would cease to be aware of them. Of course, there is a way I know of how to observe everything as the same; just think of everything as yourself and you will only see you everywhere rather than what is really there...narcissists do this habitually without awareness. This means they don't even realize what they are doing when they are doing it.

The goal of existence is to continue existing.

Like one person above stated.
If You want an "objective" purpose of
living... it's just living... or SURVIVING.
That's the only scientifically proveable
purpose.
After all, we were created in evolution.
It is nothing else than "random" creation
of things that have a better ability to
survive.

How You survive, depends on Your awareness
of life and Yourself.

For animals it's usually more simple,
especially those more primitive.
It usually ends on simple biological
needs. It gets different for more
complicated animals.
It gets to people, who have more self
awareness than bacteria. We are flooded
with all kinds of art, including lots
of depictions of death, hells, demons,
bad people, religions, parents, teachers,
governments, police, mafias, murderers etc.
And we are somehow forced to rely on other
people to survive. There are not many people
that would be able to make their own houses,
tools and gather food without help from others.
Survive attacks from other people and animals,
or even survive simple illness, when You get
weak and can easily be killed.
Hence our survival is dependent on each other.
It's called symbiosis. Simply stated. If You
have something that is worth more to somebody
else than You, You give it to this person.
That person does the same to You. To summarize
You've both gained from it.
Being social and conformistic to some point is
the best way to survival.
Lot's of authority around, telling us what
we should do, if we want to be accepted in this
society and who should we be, oftentimes
telling us contradictory things.
That messes with our minds, bacause
there's too much information to process.
This causes a lot of stress.
And the mind lacks integrity. By which
I mean, if You dig deep inside Your mind
and try to analyze Your thoughts, beliefs
and goals, You'll realize that You've got
(everybody does to some point) lots of
information that contradict each other,
hence You're not sure how You're supposed
to live Your life. More simply: what's best
to do now and what's best to plan for later?
If You sense danger and You have lack of
information on how to deal with the crisis,
You'll feel all kinds of emotions like fear
and anger (Fight-or-flight response).
The more complicated social life becomes,
the more we have to depend on others
and the more we rely on other people to
point us in the right direction (in which
case it might be different directions and
it tears us appart).

When people get confused and afraid or angry,
they do all kinds of things, because some
part of their mind tells them that this kind
of action is a best indirect way to survival.
It's curious that a mind can be so messed up
that it goes to the conclusion, that the best
way for survival is suicide. Or that dieing
with honor and fame is better than living
longer with a simple life. Another one, that
getting offspring somehow extends Your life
into "eternity". That's what the culture makes.
What You accept as Your own is "Your decision"
alone. But if You decide that walking around
with a machine gun and killing people is You
way of survival, then some other person might
decide that His way of survival is to put
one as You to the grave, thus making Your life
shorter than You wished for Yourself.
It all comes down to experience.

But I can tell You one thing for certain.
If someone does some destructive or aggresive
act on another, it just means that he has either
some kind of fear (as complicated and abstract
as the mind has ability to imagine) attached
to the person, or that he doesn't deem the
person (or animal) as anything more than
resource to be harvested.
And if he does treat people like that, more
insightful people will see that he's dangerous
and there will be some things that He or She
will never attain in life. Though he might
even know it exists.

---------

Summing up. I'd say what drives us is the fear
of death and being forgotten (which is full death).
What gives hope is being with people. Loving and
being loved. In some strange way You could say
life is a road preparing us to die humbly
and calmly surrounded by people loving us and
being sure that they will remember us in opposition
to dieing in loneliness, terror and screams, to be
forgotten imidiatelly.

And if You want another reason to believe that,
then I'd tell You that living this way is the
way that'll make You feel the most safe and
supported, because believing otherwise is a
sure way to depression and other mental problems...
which leads to physical illnesses, problems with
Immune System, problems with enjoying life,
hence wasting it on the essence of life.

Of course the choice is Yours.
Ask Yourself, what is it You want
from Your life and why.
If You belive in something, ask
Yourself where did You get that
idea and how sure is it?
Just because mom, dad, Your girlfriend,
some greek philosopher or pope told
You that, doesn't mean it's what You
should do. Even if billions of people
tell You that it's not true, ask Yourself
how You want it to be.
Just take resposibility for Your life
and DESIGN YOUR OWN LIFE. And remember
to keep adjusting this design as You
learn new things.

Oh. And by the way.
Start reading the dictionary
and try getting the "language
axiomatic system".
It'll answer a lot of things.
Particularly, that a lot of
words have no meaning outside
of social context, hence it's
useless to use them while
ignoring relationships with
people as a base.

I lol at everyone who thinks there is a purpose besides to infinitely repeat this cycle

as said many times by many different people

all things must die just leaving that which is not alive, to reform and re-explode

assuming space is closed, and that all matter will regather at the point of origin, then there is no reason not to believe that everything will be the same.

I like TOM, he knows his worth. To those that think survival takes precedence over seeking awareness through simple observable truths assumes too little of his fellow man. The evolved man seeks awareness and simple truths, to change and adapt to anything and everything that comes, and does so by making these things the necessity of SELF-PRESERVATION. If someone believes that choice doesn't exist; a see a fool. Of course it exists. Does the word exist? Okay, that is the starting point; that is the simple truth, amirite? What is the next step? It is asking the question, "What is choice? How can I use choice in everything I do? etc, etc." And to prove right here that choice exists; I am making the choice to DO THIS. Your choices are to do or not to do this. That choice I leave to you. I'm guessing you are going to choose...NOT TO DO, but then again, have you made your choice? Have you made your decision? Would you like to know how to break the cycle? First become aware of where, what, and who you are and how you are doing it. Second, realize that this is what you ARE doing. Once this is made, DO NOT do this anymore. That is change. So what DO you DO? Those are options you must investigate on your own? What pumps you up? What turns you on? What gets your goose pumped and ready for battle? That is what you may want to consider when changing something/anything in your life. But realize this one thing. I do this in my own life, it is not a necessity for you to DO this in yours; I'm merely making the point that you DO have a choice. The problem here is DO you believe you have a choice or NOT? The word belief exists, amirite? What is it? How does it work? How can I turn that into my benefit? How can I get this to work for me? Asking questions gets you to seek truths in everything you do; do it on a simple level, do it relative to location and time. You will see how much closer to reality you will become. Here is something else to ponder over, "If motion is a fundamental of life, what does it mean that a mind is still?" I wonder what YOUR response to this question will be, I've yet to find out...you see that is something I truly cannot know until I find out from you.

For those who don't want to lookup axiom and paradox, here is their definition;
Axiom - while appearing true, upon further investigation is revealed to be false.
Paradox - while appearing false, upon further investigation is revealed to be true.

I actually don't investigate axioms, I investigate paradoxes, but have to turn them into an axiom to study them objectively (that means without prejudice or personal bias). There is no need to investigate something that appears true...cause, um, where's the conflict? If it appears false however, now I've got to figure out why it appears false.
Basically, I notice things that are out of the ordinary, NATURALLY. So, I investigate the things that are out of the ordinary to find out why they grab my attention more than ordinary things usually do. Come to find out, most of those things I end up liking in the end. Lol, who knew?
How many people here actually use their habits, fears, emotions, and natural abilities to facilitate a greater outcome for future moments? Hmm, sounds a little too good to be true...you know what to do.

Why is it that most species acknowledges and is okay with the knowledge of their existence within the places they roam? Probably because they accept the things they cannot change and attempt to change the things that have a possibility of changing. But humans? NO, we believe we can even unsee things, unknow what has been known. Yup, we loath existence, especially for around 100 years worth of knowing, it's like a prison sentence to some. Me, I'm still exploring the nether regions of some girls mind as of yet unexplored by ME, and my awareness. Just because someone else does it, have you done it? Interesting concepts...for simple truths tell no lies. Seek the simplicity of the ordeal you will find the Holy Grail of wisdom. Just look around your room, if you have the courage, and actually confront anything that is displeasing to your eyes. Why? It's your awareness that's telling you how you feel about things that is the conflict; so what will you do? The conflict resides within each and everyone of us humans. What will we do about it then, eh? I am just going to work on myself, and let the rest choose for themselves. That's my magic, that's my power; reclaim your power, the keys are within you, but you must seek them to find them. Use simple truths, relative to you in your location at the moment of occurrence. Tell yourself the answers to "what do you see?"
